David A Klingensmith

August 26, 1963 — May 8, 2012

Pierson, Iowa- David A. Klingensmith , 48, of rural Pierson died Tuesday, May 8, 2012 from injuries suffered in a tractor accident in rural Pierson.David was born on August 27, 1963, in Le Mars, Iowa, the son of Cecil and Sandra (Hansen) Klingensmith. He grew up in rural Pierson and attended Grand Meadow School until it closed, graduating from Marcus High School in 1981. David graduated from Des Moines Area Community College with a degree in diesel mechanics. As a young boy, David took everything apart to see how it worked and soon learned to fix almost anything. He loved repairing and restoring farm equipment and working on the farm with his dad. He worked for Vern Anderson Implement in Kingsley part-time in high school and full-time after graduating from college until he started his own business restoring and selling farm equipment in 2005. He loved his work and loved to help people. He married his best friend and love of his life, Shona Fitchner, on July 2, 2005 in Sioux City. They met while working together at Vern Anderson Implement in 1997. He and Shona enjoyed spending time together, going on motorcycle trips, checking the crops, and searching for damaged equipment for Dave to work on. They couldn't take any road trip without stopping at every implement dealer along the way. The only thing he loved more than his tractors was his family. He was very excited to learn recently that he was going to be a father and was hoping for a baby girl. David is survived by his wife, Shona Klingensmith of Pierson; an unborn baby; his mother, Sandra Klingensmith of Kingsley, IA; sisters, Dawn (Calvin) Klaschen of Pierson and Audrey (Dan) Bollin of Kingsley, IA; mother and father-in-law Peggy and Jack Hansen of Decorah, IA; father-in-law Patrick Mitchell; sister-in-law Tonya (Billy) Remick of Decorah, IA; brother-in-law Shaun (Megan) Hansen of Spring Grove, MN; four nieces, four nephews and one great nephew.
