KINGSLEY, IOWA; Freda Mae Roark, 77, of Kingsley, passed away peacefully after a courageous battle with cancer. Freda was born December 26, 1934, Sioux City, Iowa, the daughter of Fred and Gladys (Ray) Becker. Freda grew up in the Sioux City area, she married Alvin Bruce Roark January 2, 1954 in Omaha, Nebraska. After their marriage Freda and Bruce lived in the Sioux City area until 1983 when they moved to Kingsley, Iowa. Bruce passed away January 11, 1994, after which time Freda continued to live in Kingsley. Freda moved to Mission, Texas, in 1998 where she lived until moving back to Kingsley in 2006. Freda was an excellent homemaker and cook. She dearly loved and supported her children and grandchildren. Her guidance will be missed by many. Survivors include one daughter, Barb Ahrens (Jerry) of Kingsley, Iowa, two sons, Michael (Petra) Roark of Bayview, Texas, and Tony (Michaeleen) Roark of Jefferson, South Dakota, three granddaughters, Misty (Matt) Bubke of Kingsley, Iowa, Jill (Scott) Serbousek of St. Louis, Missouri, Dannee (Arnie) Qualsethof Creston, Iowa, two grandsons, Paul Roark of Kingsley, Iowa, and Anthony Roark of Champagne, Illinois. Also, surviving Freda are eight great - grandchildren, and one brother, Gerald (Judy) Becker of Sioux City, Iowa. Also surviving Freda is Pat Olson of Sioux City, her lifelong best friend. Freda was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Bruce, three brothers, Carl, Glen and Frank and one sister, Doris Goolsby.
