Marian E. Graham

Kingsley, IA: Marian E. Graham, 86, of Kingsley, IA, passed away Tuesday, June 22, 2021, at the Correctionville Specialty Center in Correctionville, IA.  Celebration of Life service will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, June 26, 2021, at the Kingsley Congregational Church.  The service will be live-streamed on the Rohde Funeral Home website (rohdefh.com).  Visitation is 5:00-7:00 p.m. on Friday, June 25, 2021, with a family sharing time at 7 p.m. at Rohde Funeral Home in Kingsley.  Online condolences may be sent to rohdefh.com.

Marian was born September 5, 1934 in Huron, SD, the daughter of Holland and Mary (Zeigler) Vollenweider.  She grew up in Bonilla, SD, Lawton and Moville, IA.  Marian graduated from Moville High School in 1952.  Following graduation, Marian earned a teaching certificate from Iowa State Teachers College in Cedar Falls, IA, in 1954.

Marian Vollenweider and Russell Graham were united in marriage June 26, 1955.  To this union, two children were born: Allan and Joan.  Following their marriage, Marian and Russ lived in several locations while Russ worked for S.S. Kresge, later to be known as K-Mart.  In 1969 they moved to Holstein, IA where they opened Graham’s, a variety store, and two years later they opened one in Kingsley, IA.  After 15 years, they added screenprinting and embroidery to their businesses.  Russ and Marian were in business for 45 years.  

Marian taught kindergarten for three years in Sioux City, IA, and helped start a preschool in Denver, CO.  She owned and operated a pre-school and kindergarten in Galesburg, IL.  Marian’s passion was her love and devotion to God and her family.

Marian enjoyed playing the piano for church, singing in the choir, and teaching Sunday School.  She was a youth leader for Methodist Youth Fellowship and the Girl Scouts.

Survivors include her daughter, Joan (Kelly) Koskovich; four grandchildren, Luke (Alison) Graham, Nathan (Ashley) Koskovich, Chase (Nicole) Koskovich, and Ian (Kourtney Miller) Koskovich; four great grandchildren, Jesse and Daisy Graham, and Bree and Leti Koskovich; two sisters, Phyllis Zimmerman and Arlene Britton; and daughter-in-law, Jill (Steve) Duffy.

Marian was preceded by her parents, Holland (Holly) and Mary Vollenweider; son, Allan in 1988; husband, Russ in 2014; father and mother-in-law, Harold (Hap) and Gladys Graham; sister, Mavis Butler; and brothers-in-law, Ronald Zimmerman and Robert Britton.
